WeekSlice Privacy Policy
The short version
- We do not collect any data from the WeekSlice app. The app has no accounts, analytics, ads, tracking or third-party code, and it does not connect to any server we run.
- What you create in WeekSlice stays on your device. If you use iCloud, it is also stored in your own private iCloud database, which Apple runs. We cannot access it.
- WeekSlice asks for two permissions, both optional. Calendar access lets it show your events, and it only reads them. Notifications let it send reminders, which your device schedules without any server.
- The only personal data we receive in connection with the app is what you send us by email.
- You can erase what you created in the app, remove everything from a device by deleting the app, and remove the iCloud copy in your iCloud settings. Section 9 explains what each step does and does not remove.
1. Who we are
WeekSlice is made by 222 Media Group, LLC, a [STATE OF ORGANIZATION] limited liability company ("we", "us"). We are a one-person studio. We sell our apps only through Apple's App Store.
This policy explains how the WeekSlice app handles your information. It also covers emails you send us about the app. It does not cover Apple's services. Apple's own privacy policy covers those.
This policy does not cover our website, 222mediagrp.com. The website has its own privacy notice: https://222mediagrp.com/privacy.
For data protection laws such as the GDPR, 222 Media Group, LLC is the controller of the personal data we receive from you in connection with the app. That is only your emails to us.
2. What WeekSlice stores and where
WeekSlice is a planner, so it keeps what you enter. All of it is stored on your device and, if you use iCloud, in your own iCloud account. None of it is sent to us.
What you create
This includes tasks, routines and side quests (with their notes, times, days and reminder times), meals and meal plans, recipes and ingredients, your shopping list, chores in Upkeep, recurring reminders, week templates, saved menus, and the awards you have earned.
- On your device. WeekSlice saves this in the app's storage on your device.
- In your iCloud account, if you use iCloud. If you are signed in to iCloud and iCloud is on for WeekSlice, Apple copies this data to your private iCloud database. That keeps your devices in sync. We cannot access your private iCloud database from our side. Apple stores and protects it under its own privacy policy.
Settings and progress kept on this device only
Some things stay on the device you use and never sync to iCloud. These are the name you enter for the Home greeting, look-and-feel settings, your daily goal, streaks, award progress counters, whether calendar events are shown and which calendars you have hidden. On a new device these start fresh.
Data for widgets
To keep widgets up to date, WeekSlice keeps a small copy of your plan in a storage area on your device that it shares with its own widgets. The copy covers today and the next seven days. It holds task and routine titles, times, categories and whether each task is done, plus your progress, daily goal and streak. If you have turned on calendar events, it also holds the titles and times of those events. The same area holds the theme colours your widgets use. This copy stays on your device and does not sync. WeekSlice replaces it each time you open or leave the app, and when you add or complete a task through Siri or Shortcuts.
Built-in content
WeekSlice comes with built-in recipes and week templates. These are part of the app. They are not information about you.
3. What we do not do
- We do not collect, receive or store anything you put in the app.
- The app contains no analytics or crash-reporting code. If you turn on Settings > Privacy & Security > Analytics & Improvements > Share With App Developers, Apple may share crash reports and combined usage statistics with us. These do not identify you to us. You can turn this off at any time.
- We do not show ads.
- We do not track you across apps or websites, and the app does not use advertising identifiers.
- We do not sell or share your personal information. We do not use it for targeted advertising or for profiling.
- The app contains no third-party software development kits (SDKs). It uses only Apple's own frameworks.
- The app has no accounts or sign-in, and no way to share what you create with other people.
- The app itself makes no network connections. Any network traffic comes from Apple services that your device runs, such as iCloud sync and Siri (see sections 5 and 6).
Because we do not track you, Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals have nothing to change. We do not allow third parties to collect information about your activity over time or across other apps or websites through WeekSlice.
If we ever add a feature that sends any of your data off your device, we will update this policy first and tell you about it in the app before that feature is available.
4. Permissions
WeekSlice works without either permission. You can change both at any time.
Calendar
WeekSlice can show your calendar events next to your plan. It asks for calendar access only after you turn on "Show calendar events" in Settings and tap "Allow calendar access". It never asks during setup.
Apple's system asks for "full access" because that is the only way an app can read events. WeekSlice only reads. It never adds, changes or deletes events.
WeekSlice reads each event's title, start and end time, whether it lasts all day, and its location. It reads only from calendars you have not hidden in WeekSlice. It does not save your events into its own data and does not sync them. The only copy it keeps is the event titles and times in the widget data described in section 2, and only while calendar events are turned on.
To turn it off: turn off "Show calendar events" in WeekSlice Settings, or go to your device's Settings > Privacy & Security > Calendars > WeekSlice. Event titles in the widget data are removed the next time you open or leave WeekSlice.
Notifications
WeekSlice asks to send notifications at the end of setup, in the Reminders tab, when you save a task with a reminder, or when you add a task with a reminder through Siri or Shortcuts. Your device schedules these notifications itself. No server is involved, and we do not send push notifications.
To turn it off: go to your device's Settings > Notifications > WeekSlice.
What WeekSlice does not ask for
WeekSlice does not ask for your location, contacts, photos, camera, microphone, health data, Bluetooth or local network. It does not ask to track you.
When you use "Paste a list" or paste a recipe method, WeekSlice reads your clipboard only at the moment you tap Apple's Paste button.
5. Widgets, the Lock Screen, Siri and Shortcuts
- Widgets show task titles and, if you turned them on, calendar event titles. They read only the widget data on your device. When you tick a task in a widget, WeekSlice saves the change the next time you open the app.
- The Lock Screen. Lock Screen widgets and notifications can show task, reminder and event titles. Anyone who can see your Lock Screen may see them. To limit this, choose which widgets you add, or go to Settings > Notifications > Show Previews.
- Siri and Shortcuts can add a task or mark one done without opening the app. What you say to Siri is handled by Apple under Apple's privacy policy. WeekSlice receives only the task details, and saves them like any other task. When Siri confirms an action, it may read back the task's title. Apple handles that under its privacy policy too.
- Control Center controls, Home Screen quick actions and weekslice:// links only open parts of the app. They do not show, send or change your data.
6. iCloud and Apple's role
WeekSlice uses Apple's iCloud to sync your data between your devices. Apple runs this service under its own terms and privacy policy. Apple decides where iCloud data is stored and how it is protected. Our role is limited to the app's code, which tells your device what to sync.
- Your data goes to the private iCloud database of the Apple Account you are signed in with. We have no access to it.
- If you do not use iCloud, or you turn iCloud off for WeekSlice, your data stays only on your device. To turn it off, go to Settings > [your name] > iCloud and find WeekSlice in the list of apps that use iCloud.
- Read Apple's privacy policy to learn how Apple handles iCloud data. Apple explains how iCloud data is protected, and which data its optional Advanced Data Protection covers, in its iCloud data security overview.
7. Purchases
WeekSlice is free. We may later offer a one-time paid upgrade, WeekSlice Plus, through Apple's in-app purchase. If we do:
- Apple handles the whole payment. We never see your card number, bank details or billing address.
- Apple confirms the purchase to the app on your device, so the app can unlock the upgrade and restore it on your other devices.
- Apple gives us sales reports, such as how many upgrades were sold and in which countries. As Apple provides them to us, these reports do not include your name or contact details.
- Refunds and billing questions are handled by Apple. Apple's privacy policy covers the data Apple keeps about your purchases.
8. Emails you send us
This is the only personal data we receive in connection with the app. If you email support@222mediagrp.com, we receive your email address, any name you include, your message, and anything you attach, such as screenshots or details about your device.
- How we use it: only to read and answer your message, fix problems you report, and keep a record of our conversation. We do not add you to a mailing list, and we do not send marketing.
- Who else sees it: our email is hosted by Namecheap, Inc. (Private Email), which stores messages on our behalf. We do not share your messages with anyone else unless the law requires it.
- How long we keep it: we keep support emails for two years after our last message after our last message with you, then delete them. We may keep them longer only if we need them for a legal claim or a legal duty.
- Deleting it sooner: ask us at the same address and we will delete your emails. We may keep a short record that you asked, so we can show we did it.
Please do not send us passwords, payment details or other sensitive information. We never need them.
9. Deleting your data
Your data is in your hands, not ours, so you delete it yourself. There are three ways.
Erase all data in the app
Go to Settings > Data > Erase all data. This deletes everything you have created on this device: tasks, routines, side quests, meals, recipes, ingredients, the shopping list, chores, reminders, templates, saved menus and earned awards. The built-in week templates are then put back. The built-in recipes are not.
This erases the data on this device. It may not remove the copy in iCloud or on your other devices, so if you use iCloud, also follow the iCloud step below.
Some things are not removed by this step:
- Settings and progress kept on the device (section 2): the name you enter for the Home greeting, your daily goal, streaks, award progress, whether calendar events are shown, hidden calendars and look-and-feel settings.
- Task notifications that are already scheduled, and the widget data, including the theme colours your widgets use. WeekSlice clears or rebuilds these the next time you open or leave the app.
To remove everything from a device, delete the app as well. If you use iCloud, follow the iCloud step below to make sure nothing is left in your iCloud account.
Delete the app
On iPhone and iPad, deleting WeekSlice removes everything it stored on that device, including settings, streaks and widget data. It does not remove the copy in your iCloud account. If you install WeekSlice again with the same Apple Account, that data syncs back.
On a Mac, removing the app may leave its data in your Library folder until you delete that data yourself.
Delete WeekSlice's data from iCloud
On your iPhone or iPad, go to Settings > [your name] > iCloud > Manage Storage (called Manage Account Storage on some versions), choose WeekSlice, and delete its data. This removes WeekSlice's data from iCloud. It cannot be undone. Copies already on your devices may remain until you also erase them in the app or delete the app on each device.
10. Children
WeekSlice is rated 4+ on the App Store. It is a planner for a general audience and is not directed at children. We do not collect personal information from anyone who uses the app, including children. If we learn that an email came from a child under 13, we will use it only to reply once, then delete the email and the email address. We will not keep it for the retention period in section 8.
11. Your rights
Privacy laws in many places give you rights over your personal data. Because the app sends us nothing, we hold no app data about you, so for app data there is nothing for us to give you, correct or delete. You can see, change and delete all of it yourself in the app and in iCloud (section 9). Your rights apply in full to any emails you send us.
European Economic Area, United Kingdom and Switzerland (GDPR and UK GDPR)
- We use your emails because we have a legitimate interest in answering you and keeping a record of the conversation. Where your message is about something you bought from us, we also use it to provide what you paid for.
- Emailing us is voluntary. We make no automated decisions about you and do no profiling.
- You have the right to access, correct or delete your data, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to get a copy in a portable form.
- You can complain to your local data protection authority. In the UK, that is the Information Commissioner's Office. In Switzerland, it is the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC). In the EEA, you can find your authority on the European Data Protection Board's website.
California (CCPA, as amended by the CPRA)
These laws may not apply to a business our size, but we honor these rights for everyone.
- In the past 12 months, the only personal information we have received in connection with the app is what people sent us by email: identifiers (an email address and any name given) and the contents of messages. It came directly from them, and we used it only to answer them. We disclosed it only to our email provider, which acts as our service provider.
- We do not sell or share personal information, as those words are defined in California law. We do not use sensitive personal information to infer anything about you.
- You have the right to know what we hold, to have it deleted or corrected, and not to be treated differently for using these rights.
Other US states
These laws may not apply to a business our size, but we honor these rights for everyone.
Residents of states with consumer privacy laws, such as Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Texas and Oregon, have similar rights to access, correct, delete and get a copy of their data. You can also opt out of sale, targeted advertising and profiling, though we do none of these. If we turn down your request, you can appeal by replying to our answer with the word "Appeal". We will respond to your appeal in writing.
How to make a request
Email support@222mediagrp.com. We will reply from the address you wrote from, which is how we confirm the request is yours. Someone you authorize can make a request for you if they show us your permission. We answer within the time the law sets: one month under the GDPR and 45 days under US state laws. Either may be extended where the law allows, and we will tell you if we need more time. We do not charge for requests.
12. International transfers
We are based in the United States. The app does not send your data to us, so it is never transferred to us anywhere. Apple decides where iCloud data is stored.
If you email us from outside the United States, your message comes to us in the United States and is stored where Namecheap, Inc. (Private Email) keeps our email. We transfer it only because it is needed to answer the request you sent us.
13. Security
- Your WeekSlice data is protected by your device's security and, if you use iCloud, by Apple's iCloud security. We keep no copy of your app data, so none of it is on our side to be breached.
- To protect your data, use a device passcode, keep your Apple Account protected with two-factor authentication, and consider Apple's Advanced Data Protection for iCloud.
- We protect our email account with a strong password and two-factor authentication, and we limit access to ourselves.
14. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will post the new version at 222mediagrp.com/weekslice/privacy and update the effective date at the top. If a change affects how your data is handled, for example a new feature that sends data off your device, we will tell you in the app before the change takes effect. We will not use data in a new way without telling you first.
